Fasting is the voluntary denial of an otherwise normal function for the sake of intense spiritual activity. There is nothing wrong with normal life-functions; it is simply that there are times when we set them aside in order to concentrate on God. The Bible deals with fasting in regard to food, but in addition to this, there are other options of self-denial that we will also consider. The benefits and the myths around fasting will be explored along with suggestions on how to incorporate fasting into the take the central principle and apply it to other aspects of contemporary life.
